We are a training practice for GPs so we have a Registrar doctor from August each year. We also teach medical students and other healthcare personnel.
Dr Kit Oi Chung (Founding Partner)
Kit qualified in Belfast in 1982. Her qualifications are MB BCh and FRCGP.
Kit founded Vauxhall Primary Health Care in 1993. Her specail interests within the partice are High Risk Drug Monitoring, Accupuncture, Avoiding Unplanned Admissions, Neighbourhood Working, Registrar Training and Primary Care Quaility Framework, she is also our Information Governance Lead.
Dr Helen McKendrick (Founding Partner)
Helen qualified in Liverpool in 1986. Her qualifications are MB ChB; DRCOG and MRCGP.
Helen also founded Vauxhall Primary Health Care in 1993. Her clinical interests within the practice are Dementia, Drug Dependency, Minor Surgery, Traveller Community, Sexual Health, Mental Health and Depression. In addition, Helen is a member of the LMC, participating in sub-committees on child protection and cervical cytology. She is also a member of the Shared Care drug misuse services monitoring group for the PCT.
Dr Catherine Hopkins (Partner)
Qualifications are MA Medical Sciences from Cambridge in 1986; MBBS from Newcastle Upon Tyne in 1990 and a MRCPG. Catherine also has Diplomas in Community Child Health; Family Planning; Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Catherine did her GP training in the North East, and has been a partner at Vauxhall since returning to the North West in 1996. Her clinical interests include Minor Surgery and Diabetic Care, Cancer and Palliative Care (GSF) Epilepsy, Osteoporosis and she is responsible for GP training and student teaching.
Dr David Lewis (Partner)
David qualified in 1990 in Liverpool. His qualifications are MB ChB; MRCGP; DRCOG; MSc and DTM&H. In addition David holds a Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis.
Within the practice David's clinical lead areas are CHD; Atrial Fibrillation; Heart Failure and Stroke. Other interest areas include clinical hypnosis for anxiety / phobias. David is also a tutor at Liverpool University of 2nd and 3rd year medical students.
Dr Ed Clarke (Partner)
Ed's qualifications are MBChB and DCH.
Ed was raised in Liverpool and studied medicine in Leeds. He is particularly interested in Paediatric Medicine, COPD, he is our lead in Respiratory Disease.
Dr Judith Boening
Judith's qualifications are state exam MED; MRCGP; DRCOG and FP.
Judith has specific clinical interest in CHD, Atrial Fibrillation, Ischaemic Heart Disease, Heart failure and Stroke, as well as Medical Acupuncture.
Dr Phil Cumberlidge
Phil's qualifications are MBChB; DFFP and MRCGP.
Within the practice Phil is the clinical lead for Hypertension and Chronic Kidney Disease. He has a special interest in Musculoskeletal Medicine and performs Joint Injections.
Dr Stephen Chan
Stephen's qualifications are MB.BS, FRCA and MRCGP
Stephen worked with us as a locum until we welcomed him as a perment member of the team in 2015. His special interests include Mental Health, Chronic Pain, Skin Disorders, Foot Problems, Musculoskeletal Disorders and Steriod Joint Injections.
Practice Nurses Alison Talbot and Carrie Hodgkinson are available for advice on health problems, immunisations, cervical smears, family planning services and health check-ups (e.g. blood pressure checks). They also runs a number of clinics, including asthma and diabetic care.
Alison Talbot - Practice Nurse - DipHE (Health, Nursing), Bsc (Community Clinical Practice).
Alison qualified as a nurse in Liverpool in 2000. She has worked on the wards at Broadgreen and as a district nurse in the Croxteth area for 8 years before joining the surgery as a practice nurse in September 2011.
Carrie Gelhardt - Practice Nurse - BSc (Hons) Nutrition, Health and Lifestyles. University of Chester Diploma in Higher Education - Nursing
Carrie qualified in 2009 and worked as a Staff Nurse until 2010 when she worked for 6 years as a Chronic Disease Nurse in Rhyl, along side this worked for the past 6 years as a Research Nurse until she joined the surgery in January 2016.
She has a keen interest in holistic care and is committed to promoting health by following current public health issues.
Julie Williams - Health Care Assistant
Qualified in 1986 as a SEN.
Julie worked for 6 years in paediatric oncology. Worked in WHISC (Women's Health Information and Support Centre) as a volunteer for several years and lately more of a management role.
Anna Taylor and Katie Garrity are available to advise on many aspects of health, and particularly of children aged 0-4 years and pregnant women.
The team are able to provide nursing care at home, and to advise on convalescent problems following hospital discharge. They also run two nursing clinics each week in the Health Centre.

Marie Wheldon is responsible for the day to day management of the practice. She will be pleased to discuss any non-medical queries, complaints or suggestions to improve the quality of services we provide.

Our Reception Team will usually be one of the first people of the practice you meet on coming into or telephoning the Health Centre.
